Examples of Available Flute Clinics/Masterclasses:
First Sounds: In this workshop for beginners, important building blocks to good fundamentals and flute playing are covered including breathing, posture, hand position, embouchure and air use. Students will progress through breathing and posture exercises, to performing a song on just the headjoint, to playing their first notes over the course of the workshop with individual attention to each beginner’s specific needs.
Technique Builder: Designed for intermediate/middle school students, this workshop emphasizes the elements of good technique including finger/hand position, efficient muscle use, and major and minor scales. Students will learn easy to memorize exercises that help facilitate good technique through regular practice. Students will also be given practice logs/charts and tips to help them efficiently use their practice time.
Blend and Balance: Designed to help a concert or marching band flute section play as unit, this workshop helps students learn to listen for pitch and blend, and covers the ways in which flute players can blend better with flute as well as other instruments. Also emphasized in this workshop is musicality, the importance of each part, and teamwork.
Flute Boot Camp: For the advanced player, this workshop drills technical exercises, with emphasis on effective fundamentals, efficient breathing and use of air, and an approach to practice that will keep technical abilities developing.
Chamber Music/Flute Choir: Regular or special event chamber music and flute choir coachings to help students learn the ins and outs of playing chamber music.
