Music is invaluable.
Why we all need music in our lives:
As a teacher, I don't expect each of my students to become professional classical musicians (or rock starts, for that matter). I DO, however, expect them to learn, to grow, to achieve their very best on a daily basis, and to discover what it is about music that touches them. I expect them to listen to the great symphonies, Bach, Beethoven, flute sonatas, jazz, beatboxing, Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones, country music, or whatever other types of music they can relate to. I want to help them identify why it is compelling, and how they can participate in the enjoyment of that music, as well of the creation of it.
In a world where so much of our interaction is superficial, music provides something tangible and emotional. In an age where we can do most things via the internet and email, music is more valuable than ever. The tactile act of creating music, combined with the emotional act of listening and feeling is absolutely essential to our essence as human beings.
It is my intent, and my genuine desire, that through teaching and performing I can help others find a tangible, tactile way to stay connected with each other and their emotions.
